Norman Geisler's Review of My Former Self-Published Book is Now Online!

You can read it and decide for yourselves. Here it is. To read my response and a link to FormerFundy's response see here. Needless to say my Prometheus Books edition is a massive revision of my former book and supercedes it in many ways. To see some reviews of it follow this link.

"And the Gospel documents are reliable. In summary, there are more NT documents, earlier documents, more documents, by more contemporaries and eyewitness testimony, more historically and archaeologically confirmed than for any other events in the ancient world. Hence, it is highly probable that Jesus did the miracles contained in the NT and rose from the dead to confirm his claim to be the Son of God. If so, the essential facts of Christianity are true."

Did Geisler get his ph.d. in philosophy out of a Cracker Jack box?

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in the legendary Dr. Geisler here, though I suppose it's a bit silly to be concerning the topic. His blatant ignorance of the difference between biological evolution and dropping colored confetti is really upsetting, the constant use of his theistic assumptions as justification for his interpretation of the Bible (qua historical document) is terribly circular, and his failure to see the rather intuitive and common-sense nature of John's Outsider Test (especially as a way for theists to remain consistent in their treatment of belief systems) is... well, I guess it isn't much of a surprise.

*shrug*

I wish some of these entries could be permanently "stickied".

One of the top guns from the Christian side responds to the book, there are only two comments, and the subject slowly slides down into obscurity with the others.

This is the level at which most of these public debates should be taking place. Both sides seem to benefit from generally having to only deal with the relatively ignorant.
