Could One Book Change What You Think?

Cobourg Atheist runs a nice website from Canada which has the equivalent number of readers as mine does. He featured an essay of mine on dealing with atheist books. While you're there take a look around.

I read the cobourg atheist
regularly. The articles are very down to earth, polite and informative.
I recommend the website for atheists and agnostics,or Christians and Muslims.

Nice list. I read a lot of the great works of religious literature in the hope of finding truth and was disappointed. What a mess the whole business of religion is. I wonder how many believers actually read this stuff.

BTW, in the course of my truth-seeking I read "Not Necessarily the New Age" by Martin Gardner. That book didn't change *what* I think but it did change *how* I think.

So when I was sitting in church one Sunday morning listening to a Bible passage... and the rest is history

No. I would need more than one book to change my mind. In fact, it took a lot of books, not to mention magazine articles, internet discussions and personal discussions to deconvert me.

I am a self taught theologian who is currently writing a book of my own. As an author I can only hope that my work will influence those who wish to seek out truth and not necessarily just take my word on it. I have been studying religion (namely Christianity) for over ten years now. Some of my favorite books are "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman and "Why Christianity Must Change or Die" by John Shelby Spong. I don't believe that ony one book can change the way that i think nor have they. I have read both conservative and liberal Christian views and for the most part everyone is right. No one really provides answers for lifes most difficult questions. I could go into what my book is about, but I don't what you to think that I am just trying to promote it. If you ask I will tell you. I have a blog of my own and if you wish you can check it out or we can discuss right here.
