I think the question you should be asking yourself is, not what is right or wrong, but what is the purpose?...
What is the purpose of life? Why are created, or why do we even exist?
Christianity does not base Actions upon intentions..i don't believe you should just consider Christianity as the only other option..there is another religion that does however base actions upon intentions, so you go to hell/eaven based on your intentions rather then sinful actions, but I'll leave you to do your research..you're very intellectual and I'm sure very open minded!
