This is one of the many problems with religions, they have to rely on special pleadings, circular reasoning and feeble arguments in their attempts to harmonize away the impossible. Empiricism is not ever present in any of their propositions. So the mysterious and irrational is explained away by introducing yet more mysterious and irrational gibberish that runs always in opposition to anything reason has to offer. There's no special dispensation in the world of ideas--specially if they are bad ideas. If irrational beliefs are bad ideas--and we know they are--particularly when they become the fundamental element in a wide spread agenda, then we have the right, and in fact the obligation, to challenge them and offer no apology for it
