A Chapter by Chapter Critical Assessment of my Book.

Irish Farmer over at Exposing Atheism is promising a chapter by chapter assessment of my book here. Earlier I said that if someone wants to debate me then do this, and he is taking up that challenge. It should prove interesting. Some people like Andrew Atkinson were led in the path of atheism beginning with my book, but I do not make any predictions about Irish Farmer. Still, it seems like he's willing to give it a fair hearing, and for that I admire him. I wish more people would take up the Debunking Christianity Challenge. If it causes you to leave the Christian faith then your faith wasn't worth having in the first place. If it doesn't, then your faith will be stronger than before. So you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

That's good man. We can call that "Loftus' Wager".

Haha, I was just going to post that too. Unlike Pascal's Wager though we can read many books at (almost) the same time. The time and resource argument against these wagers might still work, but Loftus' book probably won't cost me 10% of my salary, or take a lifetime of Sunday mornings to read.

"Loftus' Wager"? I like it! Thanks. ;-)

What do they have to lose?

John, I know,(repeat)I know, that you know, that you will not get an assessment worth wiping with from this guy. I just barely grazed the surface of his site and found it pedestrian at best. I mean look at his "some great sites" links...PLEASE!
I glanced at his "Atheist challenge #2" also. I don't even know where to begin pointing out the holes.
Anyway, I know you know.

Though I sense a bit of bias in your comment, I don't think some of it is without warrant.

Consider, however, that I'm posting to a blog, an outlet for ideas. Its a way for me to temper ideas, and I am not dogmatic about anything I post on my blog.

Though, perhaps you should swing by my blog once I finish Loftus' book and start the review. If I am truly pedestrian (depending on your standards, I suppose I am), then it shouldn't be much trouble for you to make me look foolish. :)

I have absolutely no idea if IrishFarmer will read Loftus's book fairly, but I guess he will as he says that 'Atheism Sucks' is a great site.

Of course you don't really believe that this will strengthen anyones faith, even if they don't see it your way initially.

As you said elsewhere, what you really believe is that your work serves as a POISON to faith that will eventually have an effect.

Try to be a little more honest about your motives.

He never said he believed that, Andrew. However, he leaves open the possibility that he could be wrong. It's an admirable trait--you should try it sometime.
