An absolutely classic song. You can find out more about the band, Corporate Avenger, here: http://www.corporateavenger.info/

The lyrics to the song can be found here: http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/corporateavenger/thenewtestament.html#3

I first heard this song as Rational Response Squad. I really liked it. Interestingly, the band members are theists. You can kinda tell just by the lyrics from the song, i.e. "They make us hate the one who put us here", in reference to the "holy" books out there, but I still respect the song a good bit.

I really like this song and the video that goes with it. Please read the Bible passages that are displayed. Is it not plain to see that the Bible was written by uninspired superstitious and barbaric ancient men? Christian people are blind not to see this. BLIND!

Umm...John, if you spent some time actually wrestling with the issue of slavery in the Scriptures, rather than taking what you know about American slavery and assuming it was the same in the 1st century, you wouldn't demonstrate so clearly (and I apologize for putting it this way) your ignorance.

At the time of Christ one could not pick out slaves from the rest of the population. Slavery was generally not for life, most slaves could work themselves free, and most did by their 30's. Up to half of the Roman population at the time of Christ were slaves, and some even established their own businesses from which both they and their masters benefited. Don't make the fundamental mistake of judging the 1st century from 20th century cultural values.

If a quantum physicist put as much "effort" into wrestling with scientific issues as you guys generally do with biblical issues, he would be out of science in short order.

Whoops. I made a typo. I said, "As Rational Response Squad", when I meant, "At RRS". My bad.

It IS plain to see that the Buy-bull is just that - a load of bull which you have to rationalize (or at least totally ignore) if you're going to accept Xianity.

Dude! Thanks for explaining how cool slavery was back then.

So when conquerors would invade, destroy a city, and sell the whole population into slavery... that was really just a new business opportunity for those people. They should have been grateful.

John Murphy, please post this in the proper thread, above.

John Loftus, if you and all the other lazy idiots of DC only spent as much time studying the bible as you did reading idiotic postings by John Murphy, you might be able to find a cake in a bathroom. Between you and me alone there is - what - fifty or more years of DILIGENT bible study and research. (much more by you than me!) And, uhm, the rest of the contributors are fools, of course, because they don't know god like John Murphy does nor do they recognize the amazing cultural intricacies of things like first century slavery, oppression of women, murder of homosexuals, and - o yeh - the biblical mandate to destroy any tribe, nation or culture that did not recognize YHWH. Which intricacies only borned again bible believing spirit baptized christians can truly know or understand. Really, thank god that intellectual powerhouses like John Murphy can correct what is said here because, after all, he has lived in the first century and knows exactly what the f--k slavery was like back then. You know, the same as it was for christians in 1700's America and 1950's Alabama...OK!!!

I like the song it is definitely my kind of music. I as well also believe that the so-called words of God were created by people to control others with. I believe in God though, but I refuse to believe that God is such a liar. Peace and harmony is what it is all really about and the so-called books of God are not what makes these things happen.
