Another One Bites the Dust

Chad Dunnam sent me a Facebook message describing his deconversion. This is encouraging news! Believers everywhere are losing their faith one at time.

Hi John. I have a feeling you receive similar messages, but I just wanted to thank you for your writing.

I was a very devout Christian and did youth ministry part-time in a small Southern Baptist church. My intent was to provide them reliable answers to their questions about the Bible.

This led me to Christian apologetics (Josh McDowell, Frank Turek, C.S. Lewis, Tim Keller, etc).

The more I read the Bible and some apologetic works, the more questions I had. I had no idea any criticisms of Christianity existed. I had never been introduced to any of the popular "new atheists" at the time.

I read the OTF ["Outsider Test for Faith"], after finding your book in a bookstore. It was finally here where I gave up the last thing I held onto, which was faith.

I've lived my life for the last 5 years with no god-belief and recently "came out" to my family. My family is curious how my conclusion changed, so I've been reflecting on my deconversion story. Your OTF and "Why I Became and Atheist" came to my mind, and I can't thank you enough for your dedication to write these books. I'm excited to find you on Facebook and look forward to following you. All the best and thanks again!
